Friends of the Library Casselberry: What Do They Do & How Can You Join the Fun Today?
Okay, so today I wanna talk about my trip to the Friends of the Library in Casselberry. It's a neat little spot that I found out about, and I figured, why not check it out?
First off, I had to find the place. Turns out it's located at 215 N Oxford Rd in Casselberry, Florida. Not too hard to find, really. It's on the first floor of the Central Branch Library. So I drove over there, parked my car, and walked in.
Inside the Bookstore
Once inside, it was pretty cool. It's basically a bookstore, but everything is used - which I'm totally fine with. They've got a bunch of stuff: adult books, children's books, magazines, even audiobooks. Everything is used, but in pretty good shape, you know?
I spent some time just browsing around. There are shelves and shelves of books, and I even found a couple that caught my eye. Picked up a novel that I'd been meaning to read and a cool magazine with some interesting articles. They had some audio books there also, it was a great selection of stuff.
What I Learned
- They Take Donations: So, apparently, they take donations of books and magazines. I didn't bring anything this time, but it's good to know for the future. I've got a stack of books at home that I could probably part with.
- It's a Non-Profit: The whole thing is run by volunteers, and it's a non-profit. I guess the money they make goes back into supporting the library. Which is pretty awesome if you ask me.
- Supporting the Library: I found out that the Friends of the Library is a thing all over the country. Each library has like a group dedicated to raising money and supporting it. I had no idea!
Wrapping Up
All in all, it was a good trip. I got a couple of cheap reads, and I felt good about supporting a local spot. If you're in Casselberry and you like books, it's definitely worth popping into the Friends of the Library. You never know what you might find. And hey, if you've got some old books lying around, why not donate them? It is a win-win situation.
The phone number is also on their website if you wanna call them for something, I didn't have to, everything was pretty easy.
That's it for my little adventure today. I might go back there next week and see if they have anything new.
